Would you support the development of a "bionic" person
Would your view change if this were for a military person?
On one hand - am absolutely in favor of the "bionic" person. There are so many people who would benefit from these advances. There would be so many people who can lead "normal" lives because of the develops that now exist.
On the other hand, I see clearly how the development of technology can go horribly wrong. I know how manipulated the humans who have control of the technology can be - not only in that it will be tested on the poor or incarcerated to then be perfected and used by the rich - but also I see how anyone who is in contact with this technology can be tracked, followed, or even killed.
The moral question is - do we still develop this type of technology for the people who need in despite knowing what it can turn into? Is there a happy medium or a way to stop the terrible effects it can have?
To be fair, I would assume that a lot of this technology are already going towards veterans which means it is already for a lot of military people. It gives enforcement an upper hand against the civilian which is another scary idea if used by the wrong people.

Biophysics - Energy Medicine and Energy Fields
Acupuncture is an effective energy medicine.
I think Kirlian photography can be a useful tool to "prove" the energetic fields in a biomedical lens. No matter how accurate the machines are, I think there is a time and place for them. If a person who can do the same exact reading as a machine, I would prefer a person over a machine. I prefer this because unlike a machine, the person can read the person's energy in an spiritual way. I believe a person can gain a greater depth in relation to body, mind and spirit than a machine can.
This goes hand in hand with intent. We as TCM practitioners put the intent in the needle. We focus the universal energy into the work that we can do in order for people to heal themselves. If we needle someone with bad intent, it can cause damage! We have to be able to get ourselves in good health so that we don't put our energy onto a person.

Biophysics - Life and Living Systems
I have been thinking and think and I know what does not make me a "living system". It is not my dreams or my hopes. It is not my desire to live. It is not my ability to have joy and laugh. It is not my ability to cry and be angry. It is not the ability to reproduce (for many people can not). It is not my ability to learn. So maybe by looking at the NOTs of a living system, I can further understand what it means to be a living system.
When comparing biomedicine to TCM tn terms of autopoietic organization, I think classification of certain pathogenic factors and illnesses is what varies the most. Biomedicine has sweeping generalizations of diagnosis which allows them to superscribe a "one size fits all". While TCM can classify illness differences, allowing more variation. TCM differentiates signs and symptoms in great detail while biomedicine feels sometimes more of a summary. Although different, they can be used in tandem. Especially in emergency instances, biomedicine can stabilize a patient. Or with the more high technology can look into a person to confirm a theory. While TCM can be used for anything - I would love to see society utilized TCM as long-term health care. To be used as a constant maintenance in order to strengthen the body and prevent further harm.

Week Eleven - E-Prime Day, Synthesizing physics
E-Prime Day:
Acupuncture and herbs can cure all thing!
-------------------------------
In acupuncture, we can needle the whole body by placing needles on the ear, or on the scalp, or on the limbs. I was completely amazed when I found this out! And super eager to understand what the maps looked like in each location.
This concept touches on the idea "as above, so below". That the entire body can be reflected in a mini body throughout different parts of the body. This reinforces the idea that we can connect everything back to a scale that can be applied to almost anything if we are patient enough to see the patterns that exist within/on us.
"As above, so below" can also relate to how TCM practitioners will look at the outside of the body in order to understand what is happening on the inside of a patient. We can see how someone is feeling mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually through observation, smelling, listening, and palpation - all before the patient says one word. That is amazing! Most "Western" ideas say you have to express so much in words, or have a lengthy consultation period but in reality, the conversation is just confirming what the practitioner already knows about what is happening internally.

Week Ten - Sacred Geometry and Physics, Fibonacci series
Are there connections you can make between Sacred Geometry and Physics?
Can the Fibonacci series be seen as a "signature of life"?
I think it is fun to look at how Sacred Geometry and science are connected. As Larry showed us in his video, drawing lines between the solar system and geometry is an interesting way to see how our eyes "naturally" are drawn to some images and can find a pattern if we look hard enough.
I think the Fibonacci series can be found in many things but should not always be an example of how we measure beauty. Since science is heavily influenced by a lot of European cultures, I wonder if we look at other cultures if there is an equivalent series that would measure in a different yet still as effective way.
For fun - I took some pictures of my dog and used the Rule of Thirds on the pictures. In theory, the pictures that are utilizing the Rule of Thirds will be along the points and lines and would be considered more appealing to the eye.
What are your thoughts?

Week Nine - Newton's Three Laws, "Energy Efficient", Descartes
Newton's Three Laws:
1. Objects at rest remain at rest, and objects in motion remain in motion in a straight line at constant velocity. A force must be applied to change the state of motion of an object.
2. The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the force acting on it, and inversely proportional to its mass.
3. If two objects interact, say in a collision, the force exerted by object 1 on object 2 is matched by a force of exerted by object 2 on object 1 of the same size, but in the opposite direction.
In an abstract way - we can almost apply Newton's third law to classicism.
The rich have the larger mass of influenced, and are privileged to go at a slow pace - while the poor have a smaller mass and need to take a lot more action in comparison in relation to the rich if they want to have the same force. When the rich and the poor collide, in order for the two types of class to match, the poor will have to put in an incredible amount of effort and the rich have to do little to nothing.
This idea can be applied to our "Energy Efficient Culture". For example, if the world wanted to help decrease the waste and pollution in the world in order for our energy to be more efficient - hypothetically - the entire population of low income people would have to come together to reduce all of their waste and be completely Eco friendly. Where in comparison, I would assume if half the major corporations went completely Eco-friendly and no waste, there would be a drastically larger change. Because of the larger "mass" and waste that the major corporations have, they have to do a lot less in order to have the same results as a large number of low income people.
In a sense, if we looked at the larger picture instead of all its parts, we can see the bigger changes we can do as a society (ie stopping all factory waste) rather than spending so much effort in the small cogs (ie plastic straws). would make a more efficient amount of change.

Week Seven - Chaos
In tarot, there is the Tower which relates to chaos. In my deck it is an image of a goddess summoning lightening from the very top of a tower. When it the lightening strikes the tower, her face is not afraid of falling. Below, people are running and trying to dodge the falling bricks. When you draw this card it asks you - are you the goddess who summoned the lightening and are ready to face the challenges before you? and/or are you the people below, predicting where the bricks are going to fall, being 100% conscious in order to survive?
Ordered chaos is being prepared for the unknown. It is accepting the possible hurdles in front of you because you will be stronger because of it. And most importantly, it is being aware of RIGHT NOW in order to see the signs and symptoms, to see the patterns. By being able to see the patterns, you can predict where the bricks are going to fall. It may be chaos, but you know the structure and order.
In addition to consciousness being based on actions, I think it has a lot to do with our surroundings too. For example, if a black child had the privileges a white child has in the States, it is debatable that they would thrive and be as successful as anyone else. Their actions are being supported by positive feedback and guidance. They are achieving help along the way, and they are being praised for who they are, with not consequences. However, because of the constructs that exists, the actions against many black children hinder their growth. They have so many more hurtles to over come and are forced to be more conscious of the chaos around them or else they will not survive.
If some way we can do more things to help break the cycle so that black and brown children can start to have positive activities that fee into the sate of mind in a positive way, we are then able to change the future and survive the falling tower. They are then able to survive the chaos.
